The Landis team completed the renovation of the Lafon Nursing Facility for the Sisters of the Holy Family. The 15-month project included complete renovation of the facility, which was damaged and forced to close in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The renovation included 149 patient beds, 10 of which have access to medical gas. As part of the project, a concrete elevated equipment platform was added to the exterior of the building as a flood mitigation measure. The generator, switchgear, chillers, and pumps sit approximately eight feet above ground. Acoustical louvers line the building sides that face the platform to reduce the noise for patients nearby. In addition, the generator provides emergency power during the loss of electricity.
