Reinventing the Crescent

For the first time in decades, the City of New Orleans implemented several significant enhancements to the riverfront in the summer of 2015. With its completion of the Reinventing the Crescent Downriver Park project, Landis and City partners granted unparalleled physical and visual access to the Mississippi River, allowing visitors to enjoy the scenic riverfront like never before. The project included 1.4 miles of public open space with 20 acres of native landscaping, bicycle paths, playgrounds, a dog run, ornate bridges and footpaths, and two multi-use pavilions: the Mandeville Shed and the Piety Wharf. The implementation of alternative-energy resources and a simple economic model helped ensure the Downriver project remained a welcoming and sustainable retreat where locals and tourists alike can relax, interact, and experience the New Orleans riverfront.
